Atlanta Gas Light Company Signs Paschal English As Celebrity Spokesperson
June 13, 2002
ATLANTA, GEORGIA - Atlanta Gas Light Company (AGLC), a wholly owned subsidiary of AGL Resources Inc. (NYSE: ATG), the largest natural gas distributor in the Southeast, today announced that it has signed an agreement with former "Survivor: Marquesas" contestant Paschal English to serve as a celebrity spokesperson for a summer-long promotion of natural gas grills.
English will appear in television, radio and print advertisements for AGLC. In the humorous campaign, English, a native of Thomaston, Georgia, will tout the benefits of using natural gas over propane for the summer grilling season.
"I have been a fan of natural gas for more than 30-years," said English. "From heating our home to cooking out on the grill, natural gas is a product my family uses everyday. This was a natural partnership."
Officials at Atlanta Gas Light Company couldn't agree more.
"Paschal is the epitome of Southern charm and hospitality," said Isaac Blythers, President of Atlanta Gas Light Company. "He is the perfect spokesperson for our promotion and I'm confident he will convince a lot of people to make the switch from cumbersome propane tanks to clean, efficient, reliable natural gas."
Also joining in on the AGLC-Paschal English promotion will be Ducane - a leading manufacturer of natural gas grills and Publix Supermarkets. Ducane's grills will be featured in AGLC's advertising executions and Publix will host summer grilling events. Both companies will also take part in radio promotions associated with the campaign.
"Having Ducane and Publix as marketing partners for this promotion will help us extend the reach of the campaign and ensure the success of our efforts," said Blythers. "We're very excited to be joining forces with these well-known companies for what we're confident is going to be a great summer promotion."
