Wayne County High School alum awarded scholarship by Atlanta Gas Light parent company

JESUP, Ga. – JUNE 25, 2008 – Former Wayne County High School graduate Brendan Herrin is one of four Georgia students to receive a scholarship from AGL Resources, the parent company of Atlanta Gas Light this year.
 
While attending Wayne County High School, Brendon was a member of the National Honor Society and the National Technical Honor Society. Brendan Herrin is the son of Kenny and Renee' Herrin of Jesup, Ga.
 
When Brendon isn’t busy studying, he plays varsity baseball, is a youth band musician, and an American Cancer Society Relay for Life volunteer.
 
Brendon will use his $500 scholarship to attend Georgia College and State University, where he will study chemistry

Each year Atlanta Gas Light presents, on behalf of the AGL Resources Private Foundation, awards of $1,000 scholarships to students attending four-year colleges and universities, and $500 scholarships for students attending two-year junior and community colleges or vocational-technical schools.

The scholarships are awarded to deserving students whose parents are AGL Resources employees. In addition to this year’s 5 scholarship recipients, the company is renewing the scholarships of 13 previous recipients who have continued to show outstanding progress in college.
 
Scholarship recipients are selected based on academic record, leadership, community service, honors, work experience, and career and educational goals.
