Atlanta Gas Light awards grant to the Nature Conservancy

ATLANTA – June 25, 2008 Atlanta Gas Light announced today a $25,000 grant to the Nature Conservancy, to be funded by the AGL Resources Private Foundation, The donation ties intoAtlanta Gas Light’s focus area of environmental stewardship.

“Through our Foundation, we strive to maintain a keen sensitivity to issues affecting our communities and our business,” said Suzanne Sitherwood, president, Atlanta Gas Light. “We are pleased to champion the Nature Conservancy in their efforts to preserve and enhance the quality of life of our communities.”

The Nature Conservancy's mission is to preserve the plants, animals and natural communities that represent the diversity of life on Earth by protecting the lands and waters they need to survive. The Nature Conservancy in Georgia has protected over 267,000 acres to date. Through research, on-the-ground conservation and innovative strategies, The Nature Conservancy’s work is helping protect Georgia’s natural heritage for future generations.

“Atlanta Gas Light has generously supported The nature Conservancy in Georgia for almost twenty years,” said Shelly Lakly, director, The Nature Conservancy in Georgia. “This year’s grant will enable us to continue protecting Georgia’s wild places through science-based conservation strategies like habitat restoration and invasive species control.”
