Henry County High School alum awarded scholarship by Atlanta Gas Light

June 25, 2008

MCDONOUGH, Ga. – JUNE 25, 2008 – Former Henry County High School graduate Raheim Parris is the recipient of the Atlanta Gas Light/Georgia College and State University Community Service Scholarship.

While attending Henry County High School, Raheim was a Junior Achievement Fellow and a member of the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps. Raheim Parris is the son of Koren Saddler-Conrad and William Conrad of Locust Grove.

When Raheim isn’t studying, he is busy training for his black belt in Tae Kwon Do, and staying physically fit.

Raheim will use his scholarship to study international business at the Milledgeville school.

“It gives me great pleasure to announce Raheim Parris as one of our latest scholarship recipients,” said Suzanne Sitherwood, president, Atlanta Gas Light. “Raheim is among a very talented group of young people who will represent their families and Atlanta Gas Light well.”

Each year Atlanta Gas Light presents, on behalf of the AGL Resources Private Foundation, awards of $1,000 scholarships to students attending four-year colleges and universities, and $500 scholarships for students attending two-year junior and community colleges or vocational-technical schools.

In addition, Atlanta Gas Light awards one freshman-year Atlanta Gas Light/Georgia College and State University Community service scholarship that covers tuition and fees to a student who attends the Milledgeville school. The scholarship is renewable up to three additional years for $1,000 annually.

The scholarships are awarded to deserving students whose parents are AGL Resources employees. In addition to this year’s 5 scholarship recipients, the company is renewing the scholarships of 13 previous recipients who have continued to show outstanding progress in college.

Scholarship recipients are selected based on academic record, leadership, community service, honors, work experience, and career and educational goals.
